COIT20248 Information Systems Analysis & Design Assignment Help

COIT20248: Information Systems Analysis & Design (Term 2, 2024) Assignment 2

Due date: Week 8 Friday (6 September 2024) 11:59 pm AEST

Weighting: 30%

Assignment 2 is a group assessment. Each group should consist of 4 to 6 students. This  assignment refers to the case study “GoodDay Fruits Company” provided to you on Moodle.

Please note that ALL submissions will be checked by a computerized copy detection system and it is extremely easy for teaching staff to identify copied or otherwise plagiarized work.

Copying (plagiarism) can incur penalties, ranging from deduction of marks to failing  the course or even exclusion from the University.

Please ensure you are familiar with the Academic Misconduct Procedures

Required Tasks

Note that all the following 4 tasks refer to the “new” system to be developed; not the  “existing” system.

Task 1: Cost / benefit Analysis (15 marks)

Perform and discuss your cost/benefit Analysis. More specifically, you need to calculate the Net Present Value (NPV) and the Payback Period of the project. Based on  the calculation results, do you think that the project should proceed? (10 marks)

Provide an Excel spreadsheet showing all the calculations of the cost/benefit analysis.  Note that all calculations must be done using the formulae embedded in the Excel  spreadsheet. (5 marks)

In Task 1, you need to submit your Excel spreadsheet as a separate file in addition to your  report (in MS Word or in pdf format). Also, copy-and-paste your analysis in your Excel  spreadsheet into your report (in addition to the submitted Excel spreadsheet).

Task 2: Identify all the “critical (or core)” use cases. Draw a use case diagram to show all  these critical use cases. Also, for each such use case, prepare a use case formal description.  (15 marks)

Task 3: Draw the context diagram and the level-1 data flow diagram (the one that is  immediately below the context diagram). (10 marks)

Task 4: Develop a “prototype” of website design (showing the main webpages) you have  developed. (10 marks) *** Note: You don’t need to implement (i.e., writing computer  programs) the new system ***

The total mark of this assignment is 50. However, it will be scaled down to 30% to reflect the  weight of this assignment in the coursework.

The first page of your report should be a Cover Page with clear details of course title/name,  student numbers/names, and tutor.

There are 2 files you need to submit: your report (in MS Word or PDF format) and the Excel  spreadsheet. Submit the files separately via the Moodle submission link provided later. In  other words, do not combine them into one single zip file for submission.

Since Assignment 2 mainly involves diagrams, screen shots, and calculations, this  assignment does not have a word limit. Because of the same reason, including the Reference  section in the report is optional. However, if your report makes use of other materials to  support your discussion (e.g., NPV and payback period), you should cite the sources in the  Reference section to avoid the risk of plagiarism.

Every team member is expected to make a reasonable contribution to this group assignment.  “Free riders” are not allowed. If a team member is found not to contribute to this  assignment, penalty (or even zero mark) will be applied to this member.

Late submissions will be subject be penalty according to CQU’s policy.
