Unit Learning Outcomes | In this assessment, you will be tested on whether you have successfully met the following Unit Learning Outcomes (ULOs): • ULO-1: Understand and evaluate the role of database management systems in information technology applications within organisations. • ULO-2: Identify organisational requirements for data and develop data models using conceptual data modelling techniques. • ULO-3: Explain and apply database design techniques for relational database systems. |
Submission Type and Required Format | The type of assessment you will be completing is an individual assessment. It should include solutions of in-class activities represented in the form of data model diagrams or SQL queries. The solutions must be imbedded in the provided Database Interrogation Word document and uploaded in Canvas. |

Assessment Purpose | The purpose of this assessment is to assess students’ ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical database questions. • Each Database Interrogation activity contains 2-3 practical exercises related to corresponding steps in relational database design process: Conceptual Design, Logical Design, Physical Design, Implementation and Testing. • Students will gain practical skills in creating Conceptual and Logical Data Model diagrams, database normalization, and writing SQL queries. |
Assessment Instructions | In this assessment, you will need to complete the following steps: 1. Download the MS Word database interrogation document from Canvas. 2. Work on the in-class exercises using app.diagrams.net online software or XAMPP MySQL software. |
3. Embed the solution in the Database Interrogation document and submit it in Canvas. | |
